W3C Validation Guarantee

w3c Validation Guarantee

So what exactly is a W3C Validation Guarantee? If you are a business web site owner, it could be the difference between a site that works properly and one that is plagued by problems.

How a site looks and how it works are two completely different things. A site can look pretty, but if there are coding errors then it is only a matter of time before problems arise. These will cause a business time and money.

Who is the W3C?

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is the governing body for international standards for the world wide web. This organization was founded in 1994 to create uniform guidelines for how web based code was written.

Prior to W3C's founding, there was very little uniformity amongst programmers in how code was written, and even less in how certain internet browsers rendered them. When it comes to web sites, W3C is quite simply the organization that determines what is acceptable and what is not.

What is the Validation Guarantee?

At the bottom of all the pages that Site 1 Media creates you will see "This Site is Valid XHTML and CSS." If you click on either "XHTML" or "CSS" you will be taken to the W3C site and the code will be checked for accuracy. If the page validates, you know that all the code on that page is error free.

We guarantee that all sites we create will pass validation.

Don't all Websites Validate?

Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of web sites do not. In our research, over 95% of Web Sites Don't Validate! In fact most web developers own sites don't validate. If you own a web site and want to know if it passes validation, CLICK HERE and enter the site's address.

What Problems Can Arise From a Site That Doesn't Validate

When a web site doesn't validate, it literally means that the code is incorrectly written or has errors. This can cause a tremendous amount of problems from slow load times and incorrectly rendering in certain browsers, to an outright site crash.

A non-validated site may appear to work correctly now due to hacks or "fixes", but when the next version of a browser comes out it could be useless. Slow load time can cost a company visitors or needless bandwith to accomodate the sloppy programing.

Why Don't All Programmers Write Valid Code?

Most Web Designers don't write virtually any code. Most use a program called a "What You See is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) Editor. This allows them to design and layout a site graphically, without ever touching the actual code. Many of these "designers" are marginal at best when it comes to programming.

The biggest issue is that most business owners and web development clients have no idea what W3C Validation is. Web Developers speak a different language and often bombard their clients with jargon in an attempt to show their proficiency. Because these clients don't understand the "Geek Speak", they often don't know what questions to ask. They make the fatal mistake of assuming they are getting error free code.

Beyond W3C, The Site 1 Media Difference

At Site 1 Media, all our sites are hand coded and guaranteed to pass validation. There is not a single line of code that we didn't actually type in. We don't just tell you that it passes, we provide a link at the bottom of every page to prove it.

We are passionate about making sure that business owners get the same quality of site as our own. Just becasue a site is pretty or loaded with special effects doesn't mean it's correct or effective. We hand code lean, flexible and fast loading sites for business owners who care about doing things right the first time.
